Information You Submit
Terms Entered in Searches
When you type a name, location, or other detail into a search tool, the query is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Huron County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy practices apply to the information it receives.
Email and Contact Messages
If you email us or use a contact form, we keep the message and the information you include so we can respond. We do not share a message outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law. Avoid sending sensitive identifiers or confidential records that are not needed for the question.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Basic technical information may be recorded when a page loads. It helps the site function, measure use, and diagnose faults. The data may include:
- Your internet protocol address.
- The browser name and version in use.
- Your device category and operating system.
- The pages viewed and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when one is supplied.
- The date and time tied to a request.
Cookie Choices
Cookies and similar technologies help measure how visitors use the site and support certain features. You can block or remove cookies through browser settings. Some parts of the site may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Collected information is used only for normal site operations and service analysis. Common uses include:
- Keeping pages available, stable, and responsive.
- Sending a search request to the selected partner service.
- Learning which Huron County release-resource pages visitors find useful.
- Finding, investigating, and correcting technical problems.
- Displaying advertising that may be based on visitor interests.
Privacy on Linked Services
Huron County Released Inmates links to Sheriff and court pages, Michigan corrections resources, federal locators, release-record sources, and third-party search tools. Once you follow a link, the other service’s privacy policy and data practices govern your activity there. A link does not place that service under our control.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to follow activity across different websites and select targeted advertisements. That tracking occurs through the partner’s systems, not as a record kept directly by Huron County Released Inmates. Review the partner’s notice and available opt-out controls for more detail.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be received or processed by limited categories of recipients that support site functions or meet a legal obligation:
- Search partners that process the query submitted to their tool.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance.
- Advertising networks that deliver and measure advertisements.
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs requests made to Michigan public bodies. It does not convert a message sent to this private site into a Huron County Sheriff or MDOC records request.
Security Is Best Effort
We use ordinary safeguards intended to protect information handled by the site. No website, network, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. We cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or a security incident will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than Eighteen
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal information may use the Contact Us page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify the request, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information we hold about you.
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate.
- Delete personal information held by this site.
- Stop or limit certain processing where an opt-out right applies.
These choices apply to information held by Huron County Released Inmates. A government record or data held by a search, analytics, or advertising partner must be addressed to the organization that controls it.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this privacy notice as site practices or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted here, and a new effective date will identify when the revision begins to apply. Continued use after a revision means the new notice governs that later use.
